NFL Week 7 Game of Fantasy Points: Double-Header on Tap!

We have been blessed again and get two Monday Night Football games tonight. The first game is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Detroit Lions, and the second game is the Houston Texans at the Seattle Seahawks. The first game looks like a fantasy buffet while the second game may be a little lacking.

Another great week, NFL Week 7 saw some amazing fantasy performances and even better finishes. I’ll be going over the highest projected consistent games this week and the Monday Night Football matchups for the doubleheader tonight. Ja’Marr Chase set the bar early with 38.1 points on Thursday, only to get topped by Christian McCaffrey on Sunday night (39.1 fantasy points). The King this week so far, well, that’s Bo Nix with 40 points in a massive Broncos comeback.

Notes from the Highest Projected Games

This week had some very high fantasy points for the top players. We had 6 QBs, 3 RBs, 6 WRs, and 3 TEs all score greater than 25 fantasy points. Our highest projected game did produce the highest fantasy score of the week and the season, Nix scoring 40 points. Unfortunately the 2nd highest scoring player and reigning G.O.A.T. Christian McCaffrey (39.1) was in a game that only projected for 5 Clutch Players (the game ended up with only 3).

Featured the QB1 (Nix), QB2 (Herbert), QB3 (Dart), RB2 (Taylor), WR1 (Chase), WR2 (Smith), WR3 (Allen), WR4 (Brown), TE1 (Gadsden), TE3 (Freiermuth), and TE5 (Bellinger)

Each of the highest projected games produced at least 7 clutch players and two of the games had 10! All four of our highest projected games landed in the top 5 for highest combined scores, only trailing the Cowboys at Commanders game (66 total points).

NFL Week 7 Monday Night Football, game 1, Buccaneers at Lions (-6)

Another Monday double-header is upon us and the first game of the night looks likely to deliver a buffet of fantasy points. The first game features Baker Mayfield (100% CR) heading to Detroit to face the Lions at home. Both teams are top 6 in scoring per game this season with the Lions at number 2, 31.8 points per game, and the Buccaneers in 6th at 27.5.

The game is projected to have 9 Clutch performers. 4 from Tampa Bay (Baker Mayfield, Rachaad White, Emeka Egbuka, and Mike Evans), and 5 from Detroit (Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Sam LaPorta). This game will absolutely challenge for the “Fantasy Game of Points” title as it’s tied for the highest projected clutch players (9). This has shootout written all over it, and I love the Mayfield magic this season: 37-31, Buccaneers.

NFL Week 7 Monday Night Football, game 2, Texans at Seahawks (-3)

This game profiles as more a defensive slugfest than game 1, as the Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks both have top 6 defenses in points per game allowed (Houston at 1st and Seattle at 6th). Additionally, the Texans 12.7 points per game allowed is 4.5 points better than the 2nd place Los Angeles Rams.

We’re expecting 5 Clutch Performers in this game, led by both teams’ top WRs. Nico Collins and Jaxon Smith-Njigba both project for Clutch Games, and it’s anybody’s guess which of the Seattle RBs or if both can get a Clutch Game. Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet have some consistency on their side, Walker was 82% CR last season, and Charbonnet comes into this game at 60%. I actually like for one or more of the rookies in Houston (Jayden Higgins or Woody Marks) to have an impact tonight, give me the Texans, 24-21.
