NFL Fantasy Week 7 Waiver Wire: One Week Wonders – Can We Trust Them?

Every week, Bob Lung tracks those One Week Wonders to see if they maintain their consistency or not. This will help with your NFL Week 7 Waiver wire decisions!

As we wrapped up Week 6, the Weeks 1 thru 5 “wonders” are only producing at a 28% consistency rate after the big week. Let’s see who the Week 6 One-Week Wonders were and whether they look like a potential breakout start moving forward.

QB – Jacoby Brissett – #6 overall – 20.70 points

Brissett was a late week replacement for Kyler Murray. We all know that Brissett is one of the more experienced backups in the league. That experience allowed him to be very effective and efficient with the Cardinals’ offense. He ended up ranked sixth in total points and may be a solid backup replacement if Murray misses much time.

RB – Bam Knight – #13 overall – 12.40 points

Two weeks ago, it was Michael Carter as the surprise replacement for Emari Demercado for the Cardinals’ backfield. After an excellent showing last week, Carter was removed as the starter for Bam Knight. Once again, the starter fulfilled the role and earned a Clutch Game this week. The problem now is “Who’s Next?” Who can we trust moving forward? I’m staying far away from this backfield.

WR – Kayshon Boutte – #3 overall – 26.30 points

Former New England Patriot, Kendrick Bourne, was last week’s One Week Wonder. This week, it’s current Patriot, Kayshon Boutte. Boutte had a huge Week One and then disappeared until this past weekend. Stefon Diggs had a quiet week, and Drake Maye utilized Boutte and Pop Douglas this week. I wouldn’t count on Boutte with any sense of consistency moving forward.

TE – Michael Mayer – #5 overall – 16.00 points

While October normally focuses on Michael Meyers from Friday the 13th, it was Michael Mayer that “slayed” the Titans this past weekend. As long as Brock Bowers is out, Mayer has the potential for volume. I wouldn’t spend too much FAAB on him, but if you’re desperate, you could do worse.
