Hot Off The Press! Let’s look at what Aaron Rodgers does for the Steelers’ offense and fantasy owners.
For the Jets in 2024, Rodgers wasn’t terrible at first glance with 3897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The problem here is that he finished just 35% consistent for the second straight season (excluding the 2023 season). On a positive note, he suited up for all 17 games, which is what we are used to seeing from the future Hall of Famer.

In our rankings, Aaron Rodgers currently sits 30th. With 35% consistency, the numbers from week to week simply aren’t there for him to serve as your QB1. With just one 300+ yard game, he offered very little in the way of yardage totals per game, with just 229 ypg. The days of Rodgers relying on deep ball big plays and extending plays with his feet appear to be over. According to PFF.com, Rodgers attempted a deep pass on just 10.8% of his dropbacks, which ranked 26th among starters in 2024.

With Arthur Smith as the OC, the Steelers will look to have a balanced attack spearheaded by the ground game. Combine that with a WR room that doesn’t have many proven assets besides newly acquired DK Metcalf, and Rodgers’ fantasy production continues to be limited.
Who does this help?
D.K. Metcalf: There’s no reason to figure Metcalf won’t see similar volume to what Garrett Wilson saw with Rodgers running the offense (154 targets).
Pat Freiermuth: I love this move for ‘Muth the most. Rodgers has made pedestrian tight ends fantasy-relevant during his career. Freiermuth is better than that, and this should bump his volume up.
Who does this hurt?
Garrett Wilson: Rodgers is a better passer than Justin Fields. He should still see a ton of targets, but until Fields becomes more accurate, the fantasy stats may not be there.
Overall Outlook: Aaron Rodgers Fantasy Football!
There’s no reason to draft Rodgers in 1QB leagues as he’s best left as a streamer in the right matchups, but not a weekly starter. He’s a bit more attractive in 2QB leagues, but even there, you should target someone who can post points with their legs. A-A-Ron figures to be a better real-life QB than a fantasy one in Pittsburgh.
