2026 Football Week 2: Under the Radar with Consistency!

It’s on to Week 2 of the NFL season! Welcome to “Under the Radar with Consistency”! Which players look like they are building up some consistency?
Welcome back to my Under the Radar with Consistency series! This series focuses on consistency for players who are overlooked in most fantasy football leagues. For Week 2, I’m going to identify a few players who are sneaking along on the consistency train.
For new readers or those who need a refresher, here are a few key terms and definitions to help you during the season.
- Clutch Factor (CF) – the average points a player needs to meet or exceed a Clutch Game based on scoring settings and league size. Think QB1, RB2, WR2, and TE1 thresholds.
- Clutch Games (CG) – weekly per-game award for a player who hits the CF factor. The more of these, the more consistent the player is.
- Clutch Rate (CR) – total of CG earned divided by total games; top fantasy players are usually > 70%.
- Football Consistency Report Tool (Scoring can be edited/Standard listed below)
- Based on 12-team leagues
- 4 points per passing touchdown
- 6 points for all other touchdowns
- 1 point per reception (PPR)
- 1 point per 20 passing yards
- 1 point per 10 rushing yards or 10 receiving yards

Fantasy Football Under the Radar (with consistency) – 9/18/2026
QB Tyler Shough, NO Football Week 2.
The New Orleans Saints offense looks like they’ve started to figure some things out in year 2 for Kellen Moore. Last year, they selected Tyler Shough with the 40th overall pick in the 2nd round. Shough finished last season with 5 straight Clutch Games, and he’s already a perfect 1-for-1 this season.
Shough isn’t just putting up consistent games; he’s also among the league leaders in QB points per game. He was QB4 for Week 1, and last season, in the final 5 games, he was QB6 at 20.4 points per game.

Some worried about Shough before the season due to a lack of weapons, but the Saints have figured that out. Chris Olave looks like an elite WR1, Devaughn Vele has stepped up as a possession WR, Juwan Johnson keeps chugging along, and Travis Etienne looks like a great offseason addition. Throw in the fact that the Saints will get rookie WR Jordyn Tyson back at some point, and they expect Alvin Kamara to return this week, and Shough has a decent arsenal.
In one of my redraft leagues, I punted QB until very late and ended with Shough. I actually stacked him with Chris Olave and am enjoying the ride. It’s a long season, but we have a good sample size now of what this offense can look like. I wouldn’t move off a top-6 QB for Shough, but if I am in the middling QB7-QB15 range, I am taking a long look at Shough.
WR Devaughn Vele, NO
I am going to double up here, piggybacking off of my QB choice above, and go with Devaughn Vele. Vele has a storyline similar to Shough, where he flourished in his last few games in 2025 and then picked up again in 2026. The Saints wanted to start the season with rookie WR Jordyn Tyson at WR2; however, he landed on IR, so insert Vele.
Across Vele’s last 6 games, he’s averaging 12.15 points per game. He also has 4 Clutch games during that same span. Tyson is expected to miss two months, so Vele should be a mainstay in 2 WR sets until then.

Vele isn’t an elite WR, but he can earn targets and move the chains. This was evident in his Week 1 performance against the Detroit Lions, where he got 9 targets and caught 7 passes.
With so many WRs injured across the league (A.J. Brown, Nico Collins, Jakobi Lane, everyone in S.F. not named Mike Evans), Vele should be on everyone’s radar. He’s a WR3/FLEX who will have some spike weeks, and that’s extremely valuable.
WR Dontayvion Wicks, PHI
Entering the season, fantasy managers placed bets on who would be the WR1 in Philadelphia after A.J. Brown’s departure. The majority bet on DeVonta Smith, but some gambled on Dontayvion Wicks, the off-cast WR from Green Bay. In Week 1, Wicks led the Eagles’ WRs in receiving yards at 73 and caught a touchdown.
In games last season where Wicks got more than 4 targets, he averaged 15.1 points per game. That was in Green Bay, where his snap percentage peaked at 77%. Great news for Wicks fans: he had a 91% snap percentage in Week 1 with Philadelphia, a career high.

Opportunity is often king in fantasy football, and if Wicks continues seeing the field at that rate, he’s in for a good season. In Week 1, we didn’t really see the target domination from Smith that most analysts expected, so the opportunity is there for the taking.
Right now I have Wicks as a WR3. Currently only rostered in 27% of Yahoo! leagues, I’d bet that number spikes dramatically if he has another Clutch game in Week 2.
The Thursday night game showed us Josh Allen is still a league MVP candidate, and maybe it’s time to worry about the Detroit Lions. On to the rest of Week 2; I am so happy football is back!
