On to the NFL Divisional Round DFS! The NFL DFS landscape is open with all kinds of opportunities and chaos. The challenge is balancing cheap value with trustworthy production. The goal is simple: stay consistent, cash in, and climb into the green.
Navigating the Slate
This week’s DFS slate is the same as others; injuries, depth chart changes, and other key roster moves have us scrambling.
Our final lineup reflects a “consistently cash” mindset — the kind of structure aimed at 50/50s and double-ups, not high-risk tournaments. It’s about profit through balance, not boom-or-bust swings.
QB – Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams $6600
Stafford has put himself firmly in the MVP conversation after a season that saw him put up career highs in both passing yards (4707) and TDs (46). He seems to be healthy and has a juicy matchup this week against a Bears defense that allowed Jordan Love to throw for over 300 yards and four TDs in the Wild Card round. This game has a total hovering around 50, so it makes sense to take the QB who has the better matchup.
RB – R.J. Harvey, Denver Broncos $6200
Buffalo has had problems with running backs all season long, and Harvey has come on strong to end the season. He had double-digit carries in six of his last seven games in the regular season, not to mention having at least three targets in all but one of those games as well. The price seems a bit low given his role, and this matchup is against a Buffalo team that allowed the eighth-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs.
D’Andre Swift, Chicago Bears $6000
The Rams were the third-worst team against fantasy RBs over the final three weeks of the regular season. Swift quietly finished the season ranked 15th in total points and 69% consistent. In the Wild Card round, he tallied 92 total yards and a touchdown, outpacing Kyle Monangai in touches 15 to 9. He should see the majority of the backfield touches and should produce a similar output to last week.
WR – Davante Adams, Los Angeles Rams $6500
Nacua is much too expensive to fit in this week, so let’s pivot to the less expensive option: Adams. Chicago showed in the Wild Card round why you want the opposing passing attack in fantasy. It should be no different this week, and Adams is one of my favorite plays this week based on the price point. Big game potential in a high-scoring game at an affordable price. What’s not to like?
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks $8500
This guy is just so darn good, and he’s set to crush the 49ers’ defense. He posted 14.4 and 23.4 DraftKings points in their two matchups this season, and he’s been one of the two or three best receivers in football this season. There are no weather concerns for this one, unlike many other games this weekend, and I like Seattle to keep Sam Darnold clean. This is important because we all know that Darnold gets rattled when under pressure, but he can be very effective when kept clean.
Christian Kirk, Houston Texans $4100
Kirk stepped up in a big way in the Wild Card round win over the Steelers, catching eight balls for 144 yards and a touchdown! With Nico Collins set to miss the Divisional Round, the team will need the veteran Kirk to step up once again. Kirk primarily plays in the slot, meaning he will see more of Marcus Jones and less of Christian Gonzalez, which is good for his outlook. No cornerback allowed more touchdowns in slot coverage than Jones, per Pro Football Focus (PFF), so let’s hope for that. Keep an eye on the weather, as some snow could be falling on Sunday afternoon.
Jake Tonges, San Francisco 49ers $3400
The injury to George Kittle gives us Tonges at $3,400, providing some salary relief to pursue studs at other positions. He averaged over 12 fantasy points per game in the six games in which he logged at least 60% of the routes during the regular season! It’s a tough matchup against Seattle, but don’t discount the fact that the Seahawks were one of just 10 teams to have allowed over 1,000 yards to opposing tight ends during the regular season!
