Fantasy NFL Week 9 Start/Sits Advice & Football Strategy

Week 9 NFL Fantasy Start/Sits: QB
START – Sam Darnold – SEA @ WAS
I’ll start by saying I don’t love the fact that this is a cross-country road game. However, Darnold has been a nice fit in Seattle, and he’s recorded two clutch games out of his last three. Washington has allowed the fifth most fantasy points to the position, and Darnold has a good enough arsenal of weapons to do a bit of damage.
SIT – C.J. Stroud – HOU vs. DEN
Despite coming off a clutch game in Week 8, Stroud has been a disappointment in 2025. In his career, he’s just 20% consistent against good defenses at home. The Broncos are certainly a good defense. He will have Nico Collins back, but that won’t be enough against one of the best defensive units in the league.
Week 9 NFL Fantasy Start/Sits: RB
START – Kyle Monangai – CHI @ CIN
Chicago is one of two teams to allow over 1000 yards rushing up to this point in the season, and they’ve also given up 43 receptions to RB’s as well. D’Andre Swift was the original play here, but Monangai has shown he’s a capable backup and should shoulder the load with Swift out. This game should be full of fantasy goodness all around, with a total that currently sits at 51 points.
SIT – Jordan Mason – MIN @ DET
Detroit has been stout against fantasy RB as they have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to RB. Mason carried the rock just four times in Aaron Jones’ return game and gained just 3 yards. I don’t think all of Mason’s games will be that ugly, but this one doesn’t look favorable.

Week 9 NFL Fantasy Start/Sits: WR
START – Marvin Harrison Jr. – ARI @ DAL
As has become the norm in this article, let’s pick on the Cowboys! Unsurprisingly, they allow the most fantasy points to the WR position. It doesn’t matter who the starting quarterback is this week; Harrison should explode. This matchup is another of the week’s higher totals, currently at 53.5 points.
SIT – Xavier Worthy – KC @ BUF
Worthy did see seven targets in Week 8, but with Rashee Rice back in the fold, and what appears to be a Travis Kelce resurgence, production will be tough for Worthy. With his big play ability, Worthy is extremely boom or bust at this point. Buffalo is in the top third in the league in defending the position, so the matchup isn’t great this week either.
Week 9 NFL Fantasy Start/Sits: TE
START – Zach Ertz – WAS vs. SEA
Ertz is 100% consistent over the past three seasons at home against bad defenses. Seattle is allowing the 10th most points to the position, but this is more about the guy at QB. Ertz has been much more effective with Jayden Daniels at QB than Marcus Mariota, as he has hit double-digit fantasy points in every game Daniels has started. Daniels will be back this week after missing Week 8.
Sit – Evan Engram – DEN @ HOU
Engram has exactly one clutch game in 7 tries this season. The Denver offense has been solid, but Engram? Not at all. The Texans are one of the better defensive units in the league, and they defend the position well. It’s tough to find production at the position, but hopefully you can find it elsewhere this week.
