Week 2 – NFL Fantasy Start/Sit: QB
Start – Jared Goff – DET @ BUF
This goes against everything we believe in about Goff here at BGFS. We know he’s not the same QB away from Ford Field, but hear me out! We saw what Josh Allen did to a stout Texans defense. I’m not saying Goff and Allen are the same player, but the Lions defense allowed 410 yards to Tyler Shough and almost lost the game. Vegas is currently giving this game a 54.5 total, and we know wacky things happen on Thursday night games. I’m all in on Goff in this one, as he will have to chuck it to keep up with Allen.
Sit – Jacoby Brissett – ARI vs. SEA
Brissett was one of our favorite waiver wire targets heading into Week 2, and I still like him for the long term. However, this one could be tough. In his only 2025 start against division rival Seattle, Brissett completed just 50% of his passes and was sacked five times. He still posted enough for a clutch game that week, but it wasn’t pretty. He looked great in Week 1, but Seattle’s defense appeared ready to go and should be able to get to him a bit this week. There’s potential for some garbage time production if the Seahawks get a lead, but if you have another guy, I’d look elsewhere.
Week 2 – NFL Fantasy Start/Sit: RB
Start – Aaron Jones Sr. – MIN @ CHI
With Jordan Mason on IR, Jones will see the majority of the carries in the Vikings’ backfield. His 3.3 ypc in Week 1 wasn’t spectacular, but he did score a TD. In Week 2 he faces a Bears team that he’s played 17 times in his career, and tallied nearly 1k yards and 14 total TD’s. Chicago gave up 177 total yards and two total touchdowns to Carolina RB Week 1. As long as Mason is on the IR, it’s tough to sit Jones.
Sit – Tony Pollard – TEN vs. PHI
It was a rough one for Pollard in Week 1 with just 4.4 fantasy points on the day. His 5.0 ypc was solid, but he got just seven carries. Cam Ward looked like he took a step back, and the offense struggled and played from behind. The game script should stay that way until Ward figures it out. A pass-heavy game will work in Tajae Spears favor, and Philly should make it rough on the offense as a whole. It’s not a favorable matchup for Mr. Pollard.
Week 2 NFL Fantasy Start/Sit: WR
Start – Deebo Samuel – SF vs. MIA
Samuel recorded a clutch game in Week 1 in his San Fran return. If you’re like me, it was on your bench. This week the lowly Dolphins have to head all the way to San Francisco in a matchup that favors the ‘Niners heavily. De’Zhaun Stribling is on the IR, which should free up a few more targets for Samuel in Week 2. Kyle Shanahan knows how to get the ball in the hands of weapons, and Deebo saw eight touches in Week 1. I expect him to see at least that in Week 2 in a favorable matchup.
Sit – Brian Thomas Jr. – JAX @ DEN
Thomas had a quiet Week 1 with just three grabs for 40 yards against the Browns. Meanwhile, Parker Washington picked up where he left off in 2025 and recorded a clutch game. Thomas injured his shoulder, and while limited in practice this week, he is still expected to play. He hasn’t been producing much when healthy, so why should we expect him to produce when he’s nicked up? I also anticipate the Broncos D to be out for blood this week after getting worked in the season opener.
Week 2 NFL Fantasy Start/Sit: TE
Start – Michael Mayer – LV @ LAC
With Brock Bowers on the shelf, Mayer should be a start in most leagues, especially Week 2. The former Golden Domer paced the Raiders with seven targets, grabbing six for 32. While it isn’t a huge stat line, it shows where Kirk Cousins is looking, and he should keep looking in the weeks ahead. The Chargers were disappointing as a whole in Week 1, and let Trey McBride run wild. Mayer isn’t McBride, but I’m expecting a clutch game here.
Sit – Mike Gesicki – CIN @ HOU
Gesicki was a popular waiver wire add, and rightfully so. The talent has always been there, but the production hasn’t. With Chase and Higgins failing to produce clutch games in Week 1, Cincy is going to force the ball into the hands of their studs, which should leave Gesicki with fewer looks. Much like the Broncos D, the Texans will look to get revenge after getting lit up in Week 1 as well. I don’t see Gesicki as a consistent week-to-week starter, but he should definitely sit this week.
