Consistency in Coaching is just as important as the players’ consistency. The Denver Broncos made major changes to their staff this year. Can consistency be created in the offseason to make a difference in 2026?
Coaching Consistency – Denver Broncos
The 2026 postseason coaching chaos is going to generate more player inconsistency than in any previous NFL season. It will also wreak havoc on our fantasy seasons, unless…you read these articles and plan ahead. Never in the history of the NFL has there been as many Head Coach and/or Offensive Coordinator changes as there were this offseason. Some of our favorite, consistent players who were last season’s standouts may lose touches to others who were overlooked by their previous coaches. If you know who they are, they’ll be carrying your fantasy teams to championships. In this weekly series of team-by-team articles, Phil Taylor highlights how our favorite players are likely to be affected by the coaching changes.
Denver Broncos:
The biggest change is at O.C., where ascending, future head coach Davis Webb takes over with Joe Lombardi being shown the door. The big story here is that Davis Webb will not only be the offensive coordinator but also the play-caller. Webb is not the only offensive coaching change. Logan Kilgore was promoted to Quarterbacks Coach. The O-line’s new assistant coach is new, but is an internal promotion. Ronald Curry takes over as WR’s coach, and former passing game coordinator John Morton is back after a year in Detroit. What do all of these changes mean? Most of the promotions were from inside the organization. It means Sean Payton’s offense and influence will live on, but with some new wrinkles. Davis Webb has been with the Broncos for a couple of years, but he’s always been on an OC/Head coach track in his career. When he was the third-string QB in Buffalo, the Bills asked him to retire as a player to become their QB coach.
The Players To Watch:
QB: Bo Nix will be back with a good O-line and an incredible gift in the Wide receiver room in the form of Jaylen Waddle. I’m expecting Bo Nix to make a big leap forward in 2026, not just because of Waddle but because of Davis Webb and Jaylen Waddle.
RB’s: The running back room will again be maddening with J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey, and Jaleel McLaughlin leading the charge. If Jk Dobbins goes down, expect RJ Harvey to show his worth as a bell cow.
WR’s: In Denver, the WR room is overflowing. Courtland Sutton is returning, and Jaylen Waddle is arriving, hoping to play in a competent passing game. In addition to the two complementary stars, Marvin Mims and Pat Bryant will be in the rotation. There are also rumors that the Broncos are looking to draft a WR. Sounds to me that the Broncos are pushing all their chips to the middle of the table.
TE: Sean Payton and, by extension, Davis Webb like to use their tight ends, and Sean Payton has two of his favorites on the roster in Evan Engram and Adam Troutman. Yawn… They are both good tight ends, but in this offense, there won’t be a “bell-cow” tight end. Sean Payton has loved to tease all of us fantasy players every year that he’s going to use one of his tight ends as the “joker” position, but we haven’t seen him actually do it since Jimmy Graham in a previous decade.
