NFL Fantasy Football Week 8: Under the Radar with Consistency!

Welcome Back! Big Guy Fantasy Sports is thrilled to bring you another year of the best in NFL consistency rankings and championship fantasy football strategy.

NFL Fantasy Football Week 8, or “Bye-mageddon” as some call it, is here. In the “Under the Radar with Consistency” series this week, I’ve got some Clutch players who can help navigate those byes.

With 6 teams on bye this week, it’s important not to panic. Let’s dig in and find some players who aren’t being utilized to fill in for your teams. For NFL Fantasy Football Week 8, the “Under the Radar” series includes several players to target that can help alleviate those bye-week blues.

For those who are new or need a refresher, here are a few key terms and definitions to help you during the season when reading.

  • Clutch Factor (CF) – the average points a player needs to meet or exceed a Clutch Game based on scoring settings and league size. Think QB1, RB2, WR2, and TE1 thresholds.
  • Clutch Games (CG) – weekly per-game award for a player who hits the CF factor. The more of these, the more consistent the player is.
  • Clutch Rate (CR) – total of CG earned divided by total games; top fantasy players are usually > 70%.
  • Football Consistency Report Tool (Scoring can be edited/Standard listed below)
    • Based on 12-team leagues
    • 4 points per passing touchdown
    • 6 points for all other touchdowns
    • 1 point per reception (PPR)
    • 1 point per 20 passing yards
    • 1 point per 10 rushing yards or 10 receiving yards

QB Jaxson Dart, NYG, NFL Fantasy Football Week 8.

There’s been a changing of the guard in New York for the Giants, and Jaxson Dart is the new field general. He was selected in the 1st round this year in the NFL draft and was waiting in the wings behind Russell Wilson for his chance to start. That time came in Week 4, and Dart hasn’t looked back.

For the season, Dart has a 67% CR, but that’s misleading as he’s a perfect 4/4 in games that he’s started. Additionally, he’s averaging 22.6 points per game since Week 4, which ranks him as QB4 during that stretch.

Dart hasn’t just been good at throwing the football; he’s also averaging 44.5 rushing yards per game since Week 4. That number is higher than any other QB in the NFL this season. Justin Fields is 2nd at 42.8 rushing yards per game. Dart’s full 17-game pace would have him scoring 42 touchdowns this season; the NFL record is 36 by Justin Herbert in 2020.

Kyler Murray, Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff, and several other quarterbacks are on bye this week. Dart should be the highest targeted QB on waivers by far. His being rostered in only 42% of leagues is wildly low. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that doubled over the next few weeks.

RB Zach Charbonnet, SEA,

The NFL has continued to go with the running back by committee approach, and teams are taking notes from the Seattle Seahawks. Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet are splitting touches, but Charbonnet is reaping the rewards.

In six games played this season, Charbonnet has 5 touchdowns and at least 10 touches in every game. Additionally, it’s the goal line work that has him sitting at a 67% CR for the season. Over the past four weeks, he’s averaging 12.1 points per game, which would have him ranked as tied for RB23.

(2025 Statistics: 67% CR, RB34: 10 PPG, 79% Rostered on Yahoo!)

The previously mentioned Walker is still going to get touches, but Charbonnet has standalone value. Not only that, he has high-end RB1 potential should Walker miss any time.

Still available in 21% of leagues, I believe that Charbonnet should be rostered on his handcuff potential alone. Throw in that we have six teams on bye this week, and it’s hard to imagine he isn’t a starting running back this week, let alone rostered.

WR Matthew Golden, GB,

The Green Bay Packers have been searching for a WR1 for what seems like years. From Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and Jayden Reed, they’ve come up empty-handed until now. Enter Matthew Golden, their new shiny draft pick (23rd overall).

Golden has continually gotten better this season and is starting to show signs of being the WR1 the Packers need. His season stats, like Dart’s above, don’t tell the whole story. Golden has 3 Clutch Games in his last 4 played, and during that stretch, he’s averaging 10.58 points per game.

Rookies usually ramp up after a team’s bye week, which the Packers had in week 5. Since then, Golden has 20.9 points in two games. Moreso, he’s even had 8 rushing attempts on the year, highlighting the Packers’ desire to get him the ball.

Some fantasy managers may be running low on options and patience with Golden from his early-season low-scoring. If so, I’d suggest making a trade for Golden, and if he’s on your waiver wire, then I’d be running to pick him up!

WR Tez Johnson, TB, NFL Fantasy Football Week 8.

In fantasy, opportunity is key. For Tez Johnson, opportunity is knocking via injury. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently down 3 of their 4 top WRs: Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Jalen McMillan. Johnson has answered the bell with 3 straight double-digit scoring games.

His season CR is only 33% but he’s had a Clutch Game in 2 straight. Three weeks ago, he was only .06 points away from another Clutch Game (that game could easily become a Clutch Game as the season goes on). During that 3-game stretch, Johnson is averaging 12.47 points per game, which would rank him as WR33 on the year.

(2025 Statistics: 33% CR, WR74: 6.6 PPG, 18% Rostered on Yahoo!)

In addition to injuries, Johnson is benefiting from being a great route runner as well. He actually ran more routes in week 7 than the veteran and former college teammate of Baker Mayfield, Sterling Shepard. With Evans and Godwin looking unlikely to be available much moving forward, the snaps are there for Johnson to take advantage.

Johnson is a bit lower, currently qualifying as a WR3, but that’s a great play for bye weeks and injury fill-ins. Savvy fantasy managers have already grabbed him in deep leagues, but if he’s available in your league, then go ahead and grab him.

WR Wan’Dale Robinson, NYG, NFL Fantasy Football Week 8.

A week or so ago, I was on a video and said I wasn’t sure if Wan’Dale Robinson could keep up his consistent ways. I was wrong. Robinson has had back-to-back Clutch Games and looks every bit the WR1 for the Giants right now.

In his last two games, he’s averaging 17.95 points per game and has gotten 19 targets. With the ascension of Dart, Robinson is more and more comfortable being the top WR. With the injury to Malik Nabers, who’s out for the year, 8-10 targets a week seems to be the new norm for Robinson.

(2025 Statistics: 57% CR, WR27: 13.1 PPG, 67% Rostered on Yahoo!)

The Giants only have one tough WR defense left on their schedule, the Minnesota Vikings, in week 16. Additionally, Robinson gets to play the two teams he scored 20+ points against one more time this season, division rivals Dallas and Philadelphia.

I’ve already added Robinson in several of my leagues and am making bids for him where he’s available. Even more so, I’d be willing to acquire Robinson’s services via trade if necessary. With WR2 upside and a consistent profile, it’ll be hard to find someone better for a cheaper price.
