Ready to crush your 2025 fantasy football league? Big news flash! It’s not ALWAYS about the elite NFL QBs!
A consistent No. 1 wide receiver is a guy who’s going to get you over a thousand yards, eight or more touchdowns, and 75% consistency. It’s easy to pick a No. 1 wide receiver in your draft. There are about a dozen of them, and in a 12-team league draft, we all get one of them. It’s who you pick for your second and third WRs that will separate you from the pack. Here are my picks for the best fantasy #2 wide receivers in 2025.
2025 WR2 Fantasy Football Rankings
1. Mike Evans or Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Yes, this is a “yeah, duh Phil” kind of pick. These two guys both put up No. 1 WR numbers, so whichever one wasn’t already drafted is who you’ll pick for your #2.
2. Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals: Yes, another “duh” pick. He comes with a bigger bonus than most #2 receivers have. He’s in one of the best offenses in the league, and if Ja’Marr Chase gets injured, he becomes very valuable, very fast.
3. Davante Adams, L.A. Rams: I made my case for him in THIS write-up earlier in the season. He may be fighting Father Time, but he’s winning that fight so far.
4. Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions: After being criminally underused in his first two seasons, late last season the Detroit Lions finally discovered the guy they drafted in 2022. His points and consistency almost tripled.
5. Devonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles. Devonta Smith is Mr. Reliable. Despite injuries last season, he still ranked #10 in consistency. He is also a WR who, if A.J. Brown goes down, can become a #1 WR on a high-flying offense.
6. Jerry Jeudy, Cleveland Browns. He’s never been terrible, and in 2022 and 2023, he put up solid seasons with a mish-mash of QBs. In 2024, he broke out with Jameis Winston, who never gets the credit he deserves, but that’s a whole other column. IF the Browns can sort out their QB room and find a solid contributor, I think that Jerry Jeudy will carry the offense again.

7. Khalil Shakir, Buffalo Bills. He’ll never get 12 touchdowns and 142 catches, but he’s that lunch pail guy who shows up every single week and gets a dozen points or more for your team.
8. Chris Olave, Atlanta Falcons: The name that spawned millions of Olive Garden-related team names had a tough year with concussions in 2024. In his first two seasons, however, he had over 70% consistency and over a thousand yards each year. With good health and better QB play this season, Olave should return to his #1 WR ways.
9. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks: His value now hinges on Sam Darnold. If he’s the QB he was in Minnesota before the playoffs, JSN will get to show his stuff as the Seahawks’ No.10.
10. Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos: Sean Payton always has a strong #1 WR in his offenses, and now that he has found the second coming of Drew Brees in Bo Nix, Courtland Sutton is going to benefit in a big way. Sutton was very good and very consistent over the last three years, but didn’t have the QB or the volume to make him more than a good #3 WR. For fantasy, he’s going to be a very good #2 for you this season.
There you have it. In leagues that require two or more wide receivers, you want to build a great, consistent foundation. Having two or three WRs who score well consistently will elevate your team above those teams that go single position, QB, and TE, in the early rounds.
