QB – Tua Tagovailoa – #6 overall – 22.70 points

Very rarely do we get an “out-of-the-blue” one-week wonder like Jaxson Dart last week. Most of the time (like this week), we get a QB2 earning this accolade. Tua Tagovailoa was ranked 24th in total points and had a 25% consistency rating heading into Week 5. So, his vaulting to the #6 spot this week with 22.70 fantasy points was a surprise to many. He will have games like this every three to four weeks, but he’s challenging to count on consistently.

RB – Michael Carter – #9 overall – 18.30 points

Carter was a last-minute add this week as Trey Benson was ruled out. Many thought Emari Demercado was going to be the star this past weekend, but he “dropped the ball” on that one! Carter proved he could be a solid fantasy asset. Trey Benson will be out until around Week 10, leaving Carter in a very valuable spot for those desperate for an RB2 or Flex player.

WR – Kendrick Bourne – #6 overall – 24.20 points

Many of you may not remember that Bourne started his career with the 49ers in 2017. His breakout season in 2021 with the New England Patriots made him a fantasy name. He fell back to earth after that and this season signed back with the 49ers. He was way back on the depth charts until Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, and Ricky Pearsall all missed this past weekend’s game. So, he “quietly” put on a monster game with 10 receptions for 142 yards. Until those other receivers get healthy, Bourne is a must-grab on the waiver wire this week.

TE – AJ Barner – #1 overall – 24.30 points

In the first four games of the season, Barner totaled eight catches combined! So, when he went off for seven catches, 53 yards, and two touchdowns, people took notice. He will be the cream of the tight end crop on the waiver wire this week. Is he worth it? Does he have a heartbeat, and did he earn a Clutch Game this past week? Then, he’s open for the taking!
