The inaugural season is over for the King's Classic - Jim Brown Division!

Thanks again to all of the participants and congrats to the winners!

Auction

The Jim Brown Division auction saved the best for last as the title matchup was one of the closest games of the season.  The Pro Football Focus team squeaked by Andy Behrens of Yahoo! with a final score of 156.15 – 155.30.  Patrick’s victory was fueled by performances from some long time fantasy studs as Antonio Brown and Russell Wilson both smashed their projections, with Brown more than doubling his predicted output.  Most of the credit should be given to 2018 fantasy football missing person of the year Doug Baldwin, who finally showed up at the right time for the PFF squad and helped Patrick win the first ever Jim Brown Auction.  As for the Yahoo! team, waiver pickups DaeSean Hamilton and Damien Williams both outplayed projections.  Green Bay running back Jamaal Williams did his best to bring the crown home for Behrens with just under 25 fantasy points, but it wasn’t enough.  Congratulations to Curtis Patrick on his auction win for the Jim Brown Division!

Snake

As exciting as the auction championship proved to be, the same cannot be said for the Jim Brown Snake Division championship as Dom Cintorino of RotoExperts routed Brad Evans of Yahoo!  118.60 – 75.75, despite Evans being the projected favorite heading into the game.  The RotoExperts team was led by a nearly 50 point outburst from Aaron Rodgers, as well as touchdowns from DaeSean Hamilton and Larry Fitzgerald.  These performances were much needed as Chris Hogan failed to score, and Eagles’ running back Josh Adams scored a mere .10 points for the week.  Still it was enough for Cintorino to take home the win.  Evans failed to have any players exceed weekly projected totals, except for the Falcons defense.  Broncos’ tight end Matt LaCosse failed to score, along with Melvin Gordon, Julio Jones and Philip Lindsay all failing to meet projections.  Both owners get a big hats’ off as they made the playoffs with 7-6 regular season marks, and a huge congrats goes to Dom Cintorino as the Jim Brown Snake champ!

The battle for the coveted Gold T-Shirt commences this week in both the Snake and Auction leagues within the Jim Brown Division!

Who will emerge victorious? Only the Best of the Best!

Auction

The fight for the auction title comes down to second seed Andy Behrens of Yahoo! Sports facing off against the fifth seeded and slightly favored Curtis Patrick of Pro Football Focus.  For Behrens team, he heads into the title game missing Odell Beckham Jr. which will obviously sting a bit.  DaeSean Hamilton will get the nod in his place.  His mix and match running back stable will be the key to victory as Damien Williams, Jamaal Williams and Peyton Barber will all be in the starting lineup with the hopes of bringing the victory home to Yahoo.  Patrick’s team is led by stud RB Todd Gurley, who heads into this week with the questionable designation.  If he plays, he gets a Cardinals team that has struggled against the run all season and should put up big points.  The suddenly fantasy relevant Derrick Henry pairs with waiver wire darling Jaylen Samuels in Patrick’s flex spots, and both have middle of the road matchups against the Redskins and Saints respectively.

Snake

The snake championship game features an underdog matchup with the fifth seeded Roto Experts squad of Dom Cintorino and the six seed Brad Evans of Yahoo! Sports.  Both teams squeaked into the playoffs with 7-6 records, and both teams also feature plenty of key waiver wire adds that have helped get them get to this point.  Both teams boast long time fantasy stud QB’s that are having inconsistent seasons with Cintorino rolling out Aaron Rodgers, while Evans calls on Drew Brees.  The Roto Experts team is taking advantage of Jaylen Samuels’ tight end eligibility, which could prove to be huge.  He will also need big games from Amari Cooper and Derrick Henry to have a shot.  Evans’ team is led Julio Jones and his sudden love for scoring touchdowns, as well as Melvin Gordon who has been a fantasy stud, but has also battled injury the last few weeks.  2018 waiver wire MVP Phillip Lindsay will be a key contributor with a solid matchup against the Raiders.

After slugging it out for 13 weeks in the inaugural King’s Classic fantasy football leagues playoff time is upon us.  After a regular season that has flown by, six teams remain in the snake and auction divisions.  They will battle it out for the right to claim the golden t-shirt, but more importantly, the right to claim the first ever King’s Classic championship!

Snake

In the snake division Curtis Patrick of Pro Football Focus, and Scott Atkins of Scout Fantasy are being rewarded for their regular season performance with first round byes, as the first and second seeds respectively.  In one first round matchup, the three seed Mike Clay of ESPN squares off against Brad Evans of Yahoo! Sports who was able to secure the six seed with a one point victory in Week 13 over fellow Yahoo! Compadre Andy Behrens.  Dom Cintorino of Roto Experts comes in as the fifth seed and will face Pat Daugherty of Rotoworld, who comes in as the fourth seed, which is all the more impressive when he got zero production out of his first pick, Le’Veon Bell.

Auction

In the auction division, Scout Fantasy will again enjoy a first round bye as Brad Kruse guided his squad to the overall number one seed.  Andy Behrens will join Brad with a first round bye as the number two seed, despite both teams having impressive 10-3 records.  Jim Coventry of Rotowire owns the number three seed, and will take on NFL.com’s Marcas Grant in a first round matchup, which will be a rematch of their Week 13 contest, in which Coventry gained a decisive win.  Curtis Patrick and Mike Clay will face each other in the 4 vs. 5 matchup, with Clay being the higher seed.  Patrick and Clay are also the only two competitors to make the playoffs in both divisions.  Special congratulations go to Brad Kruse and Scott Atkins for not only guiding both teams to the playoffs for Scout, but also securing first round byes in each league.  Well done!

Auction

Week 14 saw opening round victories by Jim Coventry and Curtis Patrick over their first-round opponents Marcas Grant and Mike Clay.  Week 15 sees first and second seeds Brad Kruse and Andy Behrens joining the action after first round byes.  Patrick will face Brad Kruse in a matchup of the first and fifth seeds.  The Scout Fantasy team will look for Dak Prescott to keep up his hot streak and exceed his projected 22.46 total.  Adam Thielen and Alvin Kamara lead the way for the skill positions, with both capable of putting up points in bunches.  Patrick will need Todd Gurley to rebound from his worst game of the season against a tough Bears defense, but his lineup also sports two of the season’s most surprising fantasy finds in Eric Ebron and Phillip Lindsay.  The Behrens vs. Coventry matchup features plenty of stars as well as late season waiver wire finds like Damien Williams and Justin Jackson, who both fell into volume unexpectedly.  Coventry will need a big week out of Zeke Elliott to have a shot at winning the title.

Snake

Unlike the auction division, the snake first round was upset city with Dom Cintorino and Brad Evans both advancing.  Cintorino will take on the second seeded Scott Atkins in the semifinals.  Atkins will need Saquon Barkley to continue being the workhorse but will also need Kirk Cousins to show up as he has been one of the bigger disappointments in fantasy, especially in our Clutch Ratings!  Cintorino will need late round waiver finds Justin Jackson and Jaylen Samuels to come up big to pull off the upset.  The number one seed Curtis Patrick will square off against Evans, the sixth seed in what looks to be a very close matchup.  Evans is counting on the likes of Drew Brees, Phillip Lindsay and Tarik Cohen for the upset.  Patrick will need Jameis Winston to come through in a tough matchup vs. the Ravens.  He is also looking for a rebound from Todd Gurley as well.

Jim Brown Division

Snake

Snake division game of the week honors go to the high scoring matchup between Bob Lung of Big Guy Fantasy Sports and Marcas Grant of NFL.com, with Lung escaping with a 145.25 – 143.25 win.  The BGFS team got a combined 64.7 points from Saints teammates Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas, which carried the team.  Mike Davis more than doubled his projection for Grant’s team, which also got a big game out of Dion Lewis, but didn’t get enough out of the Titans RB Monday night to get the victory.  In Week 10 the BGFS team will face Dave Richard’s CBS Sports squad that currently sits at 5-4.  Grant will take on Jim Coventry’s Rotowire team, which despite being ranked 12th owns a 4-5 record.  This league is one to watch with the playoffs just around the corner!

Auction

In the matchup of the week, Jim Coventry of Rotowire narrowly defeated Bob Harris of Football Diehards 104.05 – 100.25.  The Rotowire team overcame a lackluster performance from Matthew Stafford by getting big performances out of the tight end duo of George Kittle and Greg Olson, as well as Josh Gordon.  Harris benefitted from Calvin Ridley, Ben Watson and the Rams DEF all far exceeding their projected totals for the week, but it wasn’t enough to earn a W.  In Week 10, the 6-3 Rotowire squad faces the Pro Football Focus team of Curtis Patrick, who comes in at 4-5, while Harris’ 1-8 club will clash with the 2-7 RotoExperts squad.
