Our Big Guy, Ron Rigney, informs you who to BUY for those BYE weeks in your draft! Ron Rigney tells you the running backs to draft to replace your RB1 & RB2 when they on a bye week! Follow him @therealmaday!
Week 4 teams on bye: Panthers, Redskins
Top 24 RB on bye: Christian McCaffrey
Bye week targets: James White vs. Dolphins, Jamaal Williams vs. Bills, Kerryon Johnson @ Cowboys
Spotlight: Jamaal Williams vs. Bills
The 2017 Bills defense allowed nearly 125 yards per game on the ground, and their remedy was to bring in Star Lotulelei in free agency to plug the run. Rookie first round pick Tremaine Edmonds should make the defense better all around, but isn’t known for being a run stuffer. I don’t feel as though they will have the kind of immediate impact the Bills are seeking to shut down opposing backs. Aaron Jones will be back in the fold by this time, but I believe Williams will have a stranglehold on the RB 1 spot in Green Bay. Jones and Ty Montgomery will see time, but Williams will be the guy.
Week 5 teams on bye: Bears, Buccaneers
Top 24 RB on bye: Jordan Howard
Bye week targets: Adrian Peterson @ Saints, James White vs. Colts, LeSean McCoy vs. Titans
Spotlight: James White vs. Colts
As much as the Patriots backfield production is a crapshoot from week to week, at the time of this article, White seems to have a slight edge. It also helps that currently Rex Burkhead and rookie Sony Michel are nicked up a bit. Week 5 is still a ways away, but this gives White a bit more time to earn the trust of Brady and the offense. In 2017 White had 6 Clutch Games, which isn’t spectacular, but for a bye week replacement it’s not bad. Indy allowed the 7th most fantasy points to RB’s in 2017, and while I believe the rebuild is headed in the right direction, they will struggle defensively as they find their identity on that side of the ball.
