2019 Consistency Preview - RB

The running back position is again extremely dominate in the first five rounds in the 2019 drafts, as approximately 30 running backs are being picked in the first 60 picks overall. That wasn’t always the case, as you will note below, the trends below regarding the decline of the super-stud backs (scoring based on PPR).

2002 – 2009 – Number of RB’s over 300 points in one season = 35 running backs

2002 – 2009 – Number of RB’s over 400 points in one season = 5 running backs

 

2017 – 2009 – Number of RB’s over 300 points in one season = 21 running backs

2017 – 2009 – Number of RB’s over 400 points in one season = 1 running back

In 2018, there were five running backs over 300 points and James Conner and Melvin Gordon had 280 and 271 points in only 13 and 12 games respectively. All five of the running backs over 200 points are listed as RB1A’s for 2019.
