Patriots 33 Jets 0
When you look up unprepared in the dictionary, Adam Gase’s face is front and center. From the beginning to the end the Jets looked dazed and confused and it looked like they saw ghosts all night. Sam Darnold’s second game from his Mono situation was a complete nightmare. Hopefully you didn't start him for fantasy this week against the best fantasy defense of all time anyway. His wonderful line of 11/32 for 86 yards and four INT’s was borderline sad to watch and his play caller didn't do anything to help him get him into a groove. A great help would have been to use quick passes to Bell or Crowder while the Patriots were blitzing him nonstop.
Bell had 1 catch while Crowder had 4 catches. Darnold was constantly targeting Demaryius Thomas downfield and to Darnold’s demise it caused a ton of turnovers. The lone bright spot for the offense was the efficient running of Leveon Bell. He ran for 70 yards on 15 carries and was the only form of offense. I was one of the critics that said he would not produce consistently with that offensive line and i was wrong. His Clutch rate of 67% is great and with this great schedule they have coming up, he could be a league winner for the second half of the season. As a result of how bad Darnold played, his pass catchers were irrelevant this week. The best thing you can do is follow the target shares. Surprisingly Thomas had 9 targets while one of my favorite second half receivers Robbie Anderson had 8 targets.
Next week the Jets play the Jaguars and even after this game i would play Darnold in this plus matchup as well as Robbie Anderson due to Jalen Ramsey getting traded to the Rams. Bell is a must start as well.
The MVP of this fantasy season goes to the whole Patriots defense this year, especially for the performance they put on this week against the Jets. There wasn't much for the offense to do due to their starting possession in the opposing territory. With that being said Tom Brady had an ok fantasy week with the game script being the way it happened to be. On Tom’s lone TD pass he made a beautiful deep pass in the end zone to Phillip Dorsett to continue to open the flood gates.
Other than that, he continued to slice and dice the Jets defense up with his patented crossing routes to Edelman and a flurry of dump passes to James White. The story of the night was Sony Michel’s 3 touchdowns. From a fantasy perspective he won a ton of owner’s weeks but from a straight football eye, he played terrible. If he can i would sell high and get some pieces for a playoff run so you can try to win a title. 19 carries for 42 yards is totally horrid and he has been consistently terrible all year. Julian Edelman is back to being his regular self with 12 targets with 7 receptions for 47 yards and pending his health he will continue being Tom Brady’s best friend.
Next week the Patriots have the Cleveland Browns. Recently the Patriots acquired Mo Sanu and put Josh Gordon on IR. Mo Sanu should be in your line ups as well as Dorsett and Edelman. Sony Michel is a dart throw and James White is an every week start rest of season in PPR settings. The Patriots defense is a no brainer. Good luck Baker.
