2019: Consistency Week in Review – WR – Week 15

Each week Bob Lung reviews the past week for Consistency highlights and trends at the wide receiver position! Follow Bob on Twitter at @bob_lung

Consistency. Any educated fantasy owner knows that you need your Fantasy Football players to be not only good, but also consistently good! It’s a proven fact that the more consistent your Fantasy players are throughout the season, the better chance that you’ll have to win. More wins equals playoffs and playoffs can turn into championships! That’s why I’ll be here each week to help you identify the most consistent Fantasy football players in your quest towards a Fantasy championship.

Your subscription includes the Clutch Report, which will help you determine how consistent are the players in your league with your scoring method!

A quick recap for those unfamiliar with the Clutch Games system.  The Head-to-Head (H2H) format in Fantasy Football leads to the need for consistency. Many teams have been near the top of their league in scoring, but miss the playoffs by one or two games. Many will call it “bad luck” and that’s partially true. Injuries to key players, bad weather, etc. are situations that affect our Fantasy teams, but are uncontrollable. However, there is one aspect of Fantasy football that you can control. The consistency of your team!

A Clutch Game is awarded to a player each week when they exceed the Clutch Game Factor in your league for that position. The more Clutch Games a player is awarded each year, the more consistent that player is and the more beneficial they are to your Fantasy team.

The scoring method used will be 1 point per 20 yards passing and 4 points for passing touchdowns; 1 point per 10 yards rushing and receiving; 1 point per reception; and 6 points for any rushing/receiving touchdown.

So, let’s review Week 15 for the wide receivers…

THE EXPECTED

The wide receivers were way above the average number of Clutch Game earners (36) that we expect to hit each week. Of course, after Emmanuel Sanders went off two weeks ago, he only scores 2.90 fantasy points this week. Can we trust him this week?  Well, they are playing the Rams for playoff positioning, so I’m going to start him in my King’s Classic finals. This may be Julio Jones only #1 week of the year, but that’s okay. He’s getting older, but he’s still a force with his overall 85% consistency once again this season. Remember when DeAndre Hopkins was at 50% consistency after Week 4, well, he’s put up 12 straight Clutch Games and is tied for second in consistency at 86%. See, nothing to worry about.

THE UNEXPECTED

Outside of Miles Sanders at running back, there was no bigger breakout than Breshad Perriman. I started Perriman as my Flex last week because I didn’t have very good options. He came through big time and helped me into the finals. I’m hoping he can earn another Clutch Game this week. I’m not expecting over 30 points again, but I wouldn’t complain either. Darius Slayton has quietly had a 75% consistency since Week 3. He’s going to be a nice value in 2020 as your WR4/5. I’m sure he’ll be undervalued. Julian Edelman! Bro, what happened? He certainly hurt his Fantasy owners with a 2.90 Fantasy points last week.

Waiver Wire Consistency

If you’re looking for some names of consistent receivers who may be on your waiver wire, I would like for the following names: Chris Conley, Anthony Miller and N’Keal Harry.

Here is a group of those “bad” surprises, wide receivers who didn’t earn a Quality Game this week. Many of those poor Fantasy owners who grabbed one of these wide receivers early in their drafts cannot be happy with this week’s performance.

Remember, one week does not consistency make! Many of the wide receivers will kill your Fantasy season if you jump on them on the waiver wire expecting weekly Fantasy scores like this. Be patient….consistency will come.
