Welcome to the new NFL season everyone!  I am back with the “Under the Radar” series this year and am looking forward to a great season!  Week 1 brought us some interesting data points along with some very interesting playing time splits (Blake Corum??).  Let’s dig in, and remember, I am always happy to hear feedback from readers so hit me up on X for any questions or comments.  Also, if you’ve enjoyed this series and crave some more fantasy goodness then sign up for Big Guy Fantasy Sports as we continue with football coverage and also check out all the other great content as well!

QB Matthew Stafford – LAR vs. @ARI (Rostered 68%, Started 21% on Yahoo!)

Matthew Stafford is that guy who if he’s the quarterback for your team he’s most likely your favorite quarterback in the league.  This past week Stafford played the Lions (his former team) and Lions’ head coach Dan Campbell said, “It’s almost like you don’t wanna hit him because when you hit him, he plays better,” which is a testament to the kind of quarterback Matthew is. Gritty, determined, and very consistent.  Last season Stafford had a CR (Clutch Ratio) of 56% while averaging 19.52 points per game in road games.  The Cardinals are coming off a week 1 game where Josh Allen had his way with them throwing for 2 TDs and completing 78% of his passes.  This is not a daunting defense and if you watched the Rams vs. Lions game you know that Stafford went scorched earth throwing for 317 yards (finished as QB9 on the week) and coming up just short of a win in Detroit.  It’s very surprising to see Stafford’s rostered percentage so low, and even more surprising to see his started percentage hovering around 20%.  300+ yards again this week along with multiple touchdown passes seem inevitable.  Reap the rewards, side with the consistency, and play Stafford this week!
