I can’t believe it’s already week 15 but here we are. The byes are over, and we have a full slate of games this week along with this also being the first week of the fantasy playoffs for most leagues. For this week I want to use the “Under the Radar” article to highlight some players that could be playoff matchup winners for those fighting for a championship and/or those fighting to stay out of last place in their versions’ of the toilet bowl. Let’s get into it, on to the fantasy playoff winners!
QB Sam Darnold – @MIN vs. CHI (Rostered 81%, Started 52% on Yahoo!)
I’ve talked about Sam Darnold a few times this season and it appears that it’s finally starting to catch on some. Coming into week 15 Darnold has a 69% CR (Clutch Ratio) and he’s had four straight clutch games. During the past seven weeks Sam has actually had 6 clutch games. Over their last seven games played the only quarterbacks who have had that many or more clutch games are Lamar Jackson with six and Josh Allen with an amazing seven. During that seven-game stretch Sam is averaging 24.12 points per game which easily has Sam in the top five during that stretch. Darnold has actually been putting up numbers all season, coming into this week he is ranked as QB7 overall and looks to be moving up due to his recent stretch of games. I don’t have to remind anyone that Sam Darnold has a bevy of top-notch talent at his disposal, all fantasy footballers know Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and Aaron Jones but some may not be aware of the current situation that Darnold and the Vikings find themselves in. The Vikings currently sit at 11-2, one game behind the Detroit Lions for the NFC North Division title and even more importantly the number one seed in the NFC playoffs. This is huge as only one team from each conference gets a first-round bye. What does this mean? Well, it means that the Vikings have something to play for, they’ll most likely be deploying those top-notch weapons I mentioned earlier up until the end of the fantasy playoffs. Darnold’s play has been amazing, and he has everything in line to continue. I would happily pick him up and start him at quarterback over anyone not named Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and this next guy.
