In the past, the quarterback position for Fantasy Football purposes was easily the most waited-on position to draft. However, the consistency rating was down this year for the quarterbacks. The amazing part is that the Clutch Factor (18.47) was the lowest in the HISTORY of tracking consistency over the last 22 years! However, of those quarterbacks who played more than half of the season, only ONE quarterbacks was over 80% consistent and only two more were over 70%. There were 10 quarterbacks between 60% – 70% consistent. But 60% is the usual threshold for good consistency. At quarterback, you really want your starter to be over 70% consistency. Since there were only three quarterbacks over 70% last year, you have to wonder if it’s really worth drafting a quarterback in Rounds 2 through 4.
Let’s look at those quarterbacks ranked in their projected Tier for 2024 and show you their 2023 total points and consistency and where they ranked in those categories in 2023. The scoring method is the standard 4 points per TD passing and 6 for rushing plus 1 point for every 20 yards passing and 10 yards rushing. So, let’s start with the top tier of quarterbacks.

As it was noted above, these top quarterbacks are ranked where they were because their past consistency separates them from the other remaining QB1’s below. Allen and Hurts earned their top two spots and are certainly worthy of your respect. The problem is Allen lost his top two receivers in Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis and Jalen Hurts now has Saquon Barkley in the backfield, so 15 rushing touchdowns by Hurts may be unreasonable in 2024. Mahomes had a down season for him and still was Top 8 in both total points and consistency. His past keeps him listed as a QB1A. Joe Burrow’s injuries crushed many fantasy owners last year, but Burrow should be back and 100% healthy this season.
