Christopher Morel, 2B/OF – CHC

With Morel, I’m cheating a bit as you likely know about him already. The 23 year old was able to carve out a solid role with the Cubs in 2022, but was somewhat surprisingly sent down to Triple-A to begin 2023. While the slash wasn’t impressive (.208/.308/.433) the counting stats in 425 plate appearances were, especially considering this guy came out of nowhere. With 16 homers, 10 steals, 55 runs and 47 RBI, Morel’s numbers were a nice boost in all formats. His Triple-A start is going to make it difficult for the Cubs to keep him down much longer. In 83 PA at Iowa, Morel is slashing .333/.446/.768 with seven home runs, two steals, 19 runs and 17 RBI. Add in his 2B,3B,SS,OF eligibility and he is a must-stash candidate in all formats as he currently sits at 53% available in all Fantrax leagues.

Ron brings nearly 25 years of fantasy experience to BGFS. A veteran of mainly football and baseball, if there is a league format for it, he’s probably played it. Previously he has worked for sites such as Fantasy Alarm, Fantistics, Fantrax, and Dr. Roto.com. A native Hoosier, Ron currently resides in Southwest Florida with his wife, four children and Golden Retriever named Elwood. A teacher by trade, he enjoys fitness, collecting sports memorabilia, music and cheering on the Rays, Colts, The U, and the Pacers.
