Consistent Drafting Equals Consistent Winning

Consistency in drafting is just as important as the players’ consistency on the field. If you don’t have a consistent plan for the draft, your results will show it.

We all look at the rankings, but how many of us walk into our draft with a real plan? We all think that drafting the next highest ranked player at your position of need is a strategy. It is, but it’s the same strategy as the eleven other dopes in the room. To maximize your draft for success, you should use a little tool from Bob Lung’s Fantasy Football Consistency Guide.

Consistent drafting equals consistent winning

In any group of 12, you’re going to have at least three complete morons who throw a wrench into our best laid plans. You’ll walk into the draft supremely confident that you’ve mastered Bob Lung‘s Tier Draft List, ready to slay your friends, picking up hidden gems and building a points-accumulating juggernaut of a team, but…

The Tier Draft List is a powerful tool that supports every pick you make. It’s also a weapon that helps you capitalize on the bad moves and mistakes that your opponents make. In the past, I’d buy the Consistency Guide and just look at the lists at each position, and I’d pick the highest-ranked player I liked. Sure, that’s fine and will help your team, but if you treat the Consistency Guide like any other ranking list, you’re missing out on a lot more points!

One of the most underrated tools I’ve ever used is one that almost seems like a tack-on. Last year, I used this tool in combination with Bob Lung’s Tier List to amass points weekly all season. If you buy Bob Lung’s Fantasy Football Consistency Guide, this impactful tool comes along for free, and most people completely miss it.

On the last page of the Consistency Guide is the Tier draft list, and it’s fantastic. Before you get too dazzled by those brilliant lists, look at the top left of the last page, and you’ll see the Draft Advisor. If you use the Draft Advisor as it’s laid out, it becomes a tool that can guide you to the best pick for you every single round. If you’ve got the Guide, look at that little tool. At first, I wanted to resist its wisdom. I thought I knew better. Then last year, I left my stupid ideas at home, and in the draft, I gave in to the Draft Advisor.

How It Works:

Each round, you try to pick the highest-ranked player at the recommended position for that round. In rounds 1 & 2, a WR1 is recommended. If one isn’t available. You look at the Draft Advisor and see that RB is the next recommended position in that round. So you take Ashton Jeanty when the guy behind you, still riding the WR wave, is grabbing meh Garrett Wilson. Later in the draft, you might have to go to the third or fourth recommended position to get the most valuable player for your team. It is noteworthy that QB1 is not recommended by the Draft Advisor until the fourth round. Don’t let that scare you. The 12th-ranked QB1 this year is Caleb Williams.

The Draft Advisor also tells you what you should have on your roster after round 7. Then it guides you through rounds 8-12, and later it helps your late-round choices. I used this tool and followed this strategy consistently last season, outscoring both of my main leagues. I plan to do it again this year. Don’t overthink it and go rogue. Lather, rinse, repeat consistently.
