NFL Fantasy Week 14 Start/Sits Advice & Football Strategy

Week 14 NFL Fantasy Start/Sits: QB

START – Baker Mayfield – TB vs. NO

As you know, we want consistency here at Big Guy Fantasy Sports. After rattling off six straight clutch games to begin the season, Mayfield has just 2 out of his last 6. The last time out against the Saints, he tallied just 152 yards with no touchdowns. Mayfield has been much more effective at home this year, and since 2022, he’s got five clutch games out of six tries at home against average defenses. Tampa Bay should have Bucky Irving back, and Chris Godwin will suit up for his second game. It looks like a clutch game scenario to me.

SIT – C.J. Stroud – HOU @ KC

Stroud returned in Week 13 with a win against the Colts, but the game was more about Indy shooting themselves in the foot rather than Houston playing well. He’s thrown for over 300 yards just once this season and has thrown multiple touchdowns in just three games. He’s just 3 for 9 over the past three seasons on the road against average defenses; however, one of those clutch games did come in KC. Based on his performance this season, he’s tough to trust in this one.

Week 14 NFL Fantasy Start/Sits: RB

START – Zonovan Knight – ARI vs. LAR

This one isn’t about the matchup, as the Rams are tough on fantasy RBs. It’s more about Knight becoming the default number one back. He’s gotten double-digit carries in five of the last seven games and has scored a touchdown in three straight. Michael Carter’s carries have stayed around five per game, and he’s a non-factor in the passing game. Knight has seen nearly four targets per game over the last three. It’s tough to find RB help at this point, but Knight is worth a look.

SIT – Kimani Vidal – LAC vs. PHI

This one is dependent on whether Omarion Hampton comes back, which looks to be the case. The Eagles have allowed the eighth most fantasy points to the position, which keeps him in the conversation as a flex play, but not as one of your starting RBs. This is also a week where he’s coming off a clutch game, and in those games, he’s not performed. Not an awful start, but if Hampton is there, it will surely limit Vidal’s fantasy impact.

Week 14 NFL Fantasy Start/Sits: WR

START – Christian Watson – GB vs. CHI

I don’t love the Green Bay WR room for fantasy purposes, as it seems to be a room full of WR2/3 type guys. They get the job done in real life, but are hard to count on in fantasy. As far as raw talent, Watson is the guy I have had the most faith in, but he’s been anything but consistent. This week, he draws a Bears defense that has allowed the fourth-most points in the league to WRs. Watson has seen at least seven targets in each of the last two games and scored last week against Detroit. I’m not expecting huge numbers, but he should do enough to record a clutch game.

SIT – Rome Odunze – CHI @ GB

As much as I love his talent, Odunze has just three clutch games out of his last five. He began the season with four straight big games, and has tailed off despite the Bears being the NFC’s number one seed. He’s been nursing a foot injury that has kept him sidelined all week, so if he does practice Friday and ends up playing, he’s tough to count on. Combine the injury news and the matchup, and you’re going to need to look elsewhere. (UPDATE: Odunze is OUT for Week 14 with a stress fracture in his foot.)

Week 14 NFL Fantasy Start/Sits: TE

START – Harold Fannin Jr. – CLE vs. TEN

Fannin seems to have taken over as the TE1 as David Njoku continues to see fewer and fewer snaps. He’s seen at least five targets in all but two games this season, and should continue to see targets as both QBs are rookies, and figure to check down quite a bit. The Titans haven’t been terrible against the position, but it’s still the Titans.

Sit – T.J. Hockenson – MIN vs. WAS

At this point, I’m sitting Hockenson for the rest of the season. I get it, you may not have another option as TE help is tough to find, but I’d feel better about grabbing touchdown-dependent guys off waivers at this point. He has yet to find the connection with J.J. McCarthy and, well, we all saw how the Max Brosmer experiment went
