Week 8 in NFL Fantasy Football means we need to take a look at Week 7’s “Who’s Hot & Who’s Not” based on the consistency model.
Each week, Colby Conway gives his insights on the consistency of the players in your season-long leagues! Find out who’s been (HOT) consistent and (NOT HOT) inconsistent to help you make waiver wire claims and start/sit decisions for Week 8 NFL Fantasy Football.
Seven weeks of the NFL season have passed, and it’s time to really dig in on the performances of these players. In this week’s edition of Who’s Hot and Who’s Not, we’ll dive into standout performances from Dak Prescott and Cam Skattebo, while determining the appropriate level of concern for guys like Geno Smith and Evan Engram.

Who’s Hot! Week 8 NFL Fantasy Football.
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Fantasy managers have to be thrilled with what they’ve gotten from Prescott so far. He has a 16:3 TD/INT ratio after seven weeks, and his 268.7 passing yards per game would be his highest since 2021! Additionally, he ranks eighth in adjusted completion percentage and ninth in adjusted net yards per attempt amongst QBs with at least 100 dropbacks, per FantasyPoints. He’s undoubtedly a QB1 for fantasy moving forward.
Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers
Three straight multi-touchdown games will certainly boost the consistency! Jacobs is still searching for his first 100-yard game of the season. However, he’s already up to eight rushing TDs on the season! Green Bay is committed to him as the lead back, and barring injury, there’s no reason to believe he doesn’t continue racking up touchdowns and clutch games.
Cam Skattebo, New York Giants
Tyrone Tracy returned, but no problem for Skattebo. In the two games since Tracy has returned, the rookie has logged the following, per FantasyPoints:
- 65.4% of the snaps
- 49.3% of the team’s carries
- 11.9% target share, per FantasyPoints.
Jaxson Dart is going to take some carries, but the team views Skattebo as its lead back. He ranks sixth in expected fantasy points per game over the last two weeks, per FantasyPoints.
Who’s Not! Week 8 NFL Fantasy Football.
Geno Smith, Las Vegas Raiders
Smith has a porous clutch rate on the season, as you’d likely expect. In fact, he’s probably a free agent in most leagues at this point! He is sporting a 3:6 TD/INT ratio over his last four games, averaging just 146.5 passing yards per game. Furthermore, he’s not adding anything with his legs, so that isn’t helping anything. At the end of the day, unless the Raiders’ pass attack has a revival, it’s hard to expect much fantasy production from Smith. Thus, minimal clutch games moving forward.
Keon Coleman, Buffalo Bills
Since his 112 yards in Week 1, Coleman has 125 yards total over his last five games. He still leads the Bills in target share through six weeks, but there just hasn’t been much fantasy production since Week 1. Of wideouts with at least 100 routes run on the season, Coleman ranks 75th in separation score and 63rd in win rate, per FantasyPoints. That’s not ideal, to say the least, hence a big part of why clutch games have eluded him in recent weeks.
Evan Engram, Denver Broncos
Engram has handled six or more targets in four straight games. However, he’s yet to exceed 45 yards, and a touchdown against the Eagles pushed him to a clutch game. The Broncos are going to spread the ball all around, but I’m not loving Engram’s sub-60% route share in every game this season. For reference, Trey McBride has yet to dip below 84% in any week this season. Engram’s route share of 49.6% on the year is very, very low. Not ideal for Engram. I’m trying to remain optimistic, but aside from the target totals, it’s hard not to lose some faith.
