Football Week 2: One Week Wonders – Week 1 – Can We Trust Them?

Week 2 is almost upon us, and Bob Lung brings you his Week 1’s One-Week Wonders and answers the question: Can We Trust Them?

Each week, I’m bringing you the prior week’s one-week wonders, and we are going to track this all year! Why? We want to see how many of these one-week wonders maintain their consistency.

Since it’s only Week 1, there isn’t much to track just yet, so I’m sharing my thoughts on their performance and whether I believe this can continue.

One-Week Wonders – Do We Trust Them? – 9/9/2025 – NFL Football Week 2

QB – Daniel Jones – #2 overall – 29.50 points

I knew the Dolphins’ defense was going to be bad this year, but come on! They gave up 29.50 points to Daniel Jones! An almost 76% completion percentage shows you how bad the Dolphins were. Jones had three total touchdowns, with two on the ground, in addition to his touchdown pass to Michael Pittman. He does get a more challenging matchup at home versus the Broncos next week, so keep expectations down a notch.

More Big Guy Fantasy Football

RB – Dylan Sampson – #9 overall – 17.30 points

If I were going to choose which Browns would have had a big game against the Bengals, it certainly would not have been Sampson. The rushing stats weren’t great (12 carries for 29 yards), but the eight catches for 64 yards are where the fantasy points came from. Quinshon Judkins is due back in Week 2. However, I don’t think this takes away from Sampson as the third-down back. I’d grab him off the Waiver Wire, if available.

WR – Quentin Johnston – #3 overall – 24.90 points

The projections for most of the Chargers’ receivers would have been Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen, and Quentin Johnston. However, that order was reversed after the Friday night game against the Chiefs. Johnston had five catches for 79 yards and TWO touchdowns! While he may have started in 14-team leagues, he would probably be on most teams’ benches in 12 or fewer team leagues. I would get him in your lineups IF you have a good spot for him. Please don’t bench a stud for him. NFL Football Week 2.

Expert Week 2 Football Consistency Reports!

TE – Juwan Johnson – #1 overall – 15.60 points

This easily wins the “One-Week Wonder” of Week One! Most fantasy players didn’t even know that he was still playing. He took the top spot, without scoring a touchdown! His eight catches were the highest for the week, and his 76 yards tied for third amongst tight ends. The real question is: Can we trust him going forward? I want to say no, BUT Spencer Rattler is their starter and needs a security blanket other than Chris Olave. Therefore, I’d say grab him.
