Jared Goff and His Inconsistency Is Not Worthy of Your Love

Bob Lung shares his consistency profile of Jared Goff and why his inconsistency is not worthy of your love in 2025 NFL Fantasy Football drafts.
Jared Goff (to the average fan of fantasy football) appears to be a great Top 10 quarterback for the past three years. Over the past two years, he has consistently ranked in the Top 7 in total points. However, as we dig deeper into Jared Goff and his inconsistency, you will see that he may be unworthy of your “love” anymore.

Goff has been extremely consistent over the past three seasons, consistently hitting exactly a 47% consistency rating every year. However, being below 50% consistent means that Goff has been a worthy starter in a 12-team league in less than half of all his games. Those numbers do not spell fantasy success, regardless of what the total points ranking tells you.

The clutch games by week schedule above shows how amazing Goff was during the fantasy playoffs last season. He was 100% consistent in Weeks 14-17! That’s fantastic until you realize that he had a consistency rating of 33% (4 of 12) during the games leading up to the playoffs. IF you made the playoffs with Goff as your main starter, congrats! You probably won your league. If you didn’t make it with Goff as your starter, that 33% consistency was a big part of the reason.

One of the most important numbers regarding Goff’s inconsistency is highlighted here. His Home/Away split has always been a problem for him. His home consistency rating of 65% as compared to his away rating of only 28% should tell you enough. He’s pretty consistent at home, but on the road, it’s a completely different story. His decent consistency rating of 67% on the road, versus a bottom-10 defense, is the only game scenario where Goff is productive.
Goff performs poorly when playing on the road against Top 10 and Average (ranked 11-22) defenses. Both show Goff with a consistency rating less than 25% over those 22 games.
Summary
If you can live with the inconsistency or maybe stream him with another quarterback, Jared Goff puts up great total point numbers every year. However, if I were you, I’d focus on someone with a better consistency profile at the quarterback position in 2025. Or possibly stream him with another bi-polar quarterback to maximize their effectiveness.
