The Best 2025 NFL Sophomore Quarterback Breakout Factor!
Welcome Back! Big Guy Fantasy Sports is thrilled to bring you another year of the best in NFL consistency rankings and championship fantasy football strategy.
One of the most thrilling parts of drafts and building your team is identifying an NFL Quarterback Breakout!
With everyone in the world having access to all the data on every NFL player, it’s rare that you can find a player your competitors haven’t formed an opinion on. This year, Michael Penix Jr. seems to be that guy. He’s a highly drafted player who’s just been given the keys to an offense with a plethora of dangerous weapons. And yet, where’s the NFL quarterback breakout buzz? He had a cameo at the end of last season, but not enough for us to have a strong opinion.
I’m planting my flag right here, right now. Michael Penix will be the breakout QB of the 2025 season. And…he will be top 12 in consistency clutch rate. Yes, I called him Michael Penix without the Jr. – he’s a grown ass man ready to let the league know he’s here.
2025 NFL Breakout Facts: Quarterback Michael Penix
So, let’s talk about why he’s going to make a quantum leap in consistency in 2025.
1. Offensive Coordinator Zac Robinson will have more consistency as the OC in his second year with Michael Penix as his focus. Zac Robinson played QB in college and the pros and worked as Passing Game Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach for the Rams the last few years. Hmm…the Rams? They seemed to have passed quite a bit, didn’t they?
2. The Schedule: The Falcons have the 4th-easiest schedule in the league this season.
3. Michael Penix himself. He spent 6 years playing D-1 college ball and got better each year. His college consistency in the last two years shows his growth. Think about last season’s surprise, Bo Nix. He’s another college QB who was 24 when he started in the league. Like Bo Nix, Michael Penix is more mature than most second-year QBs.
5. This might also be the year that Kyle Pitts breaks out because of Zac Robinson’s offense, which will really use the TE. On a recent radio show appearance, Zac Robinson said, “Kyle is a tight end first. So first and foremost, we use Kyle as a tight end.” What’s better for a QB’s consistency than having a tight end as your security blanket? (Just ask Patrick Mahomes)
Do with this information what you will, but my consistency will be having Michael Penix on my teams.
