I hope everyone who’s been affected by the hurricanes is safe! Please know that my prayers and thoughts are with everyone affected. It’s a scary time and I know firsthand the effect that it can have (I lived in southern Florida during Katrina in 2005). As for the NFL this week we’re heading into week 6 and this week brings us four teams that are on bye. Those four teams are the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Rams, and Minnesota Vikings. With that many fantasy starters are missing from lineups this week. QB Daniel Jones @NYG vs. CIN (Rostered 17%, Started 11% on Yahoo!)
Daniel Jones is a player that I’ve stood up for many times despite many football fans throwing him under the bus. For the season he’s got a 60% CR (Clutch Ratio) and is averaging 17.74 points per game. His clutch games include last week when Daniel scored 24.65 points despite being without his WR1, Malik Nabers, and RB1, Devin Singletary. Those numbers are good enough to have Daniel ranked as the QB15 overall. That doesn’t seem great but if we take week 1 out of the equation, when the Giants faced off against Minnesota (they’ve been one of the best defenses in advanced metrics all season, holding every QB they’ve faced in check), then Jones’ per game average jumps up to 19.98. On the season, that point-per-game average would be enough to put him in the top 12 for quarterbacks. Our FF Consistency Forecast tool has Daniel projected for 21.50 points this week and with several big-name quarterbacks out this week (Mahomes, Stafford, Tua, and Darnold) it’s a good week to turn to Jones and he should be a consistent QB1 (top 12) moving forward.
